Lethal Injection ride report
by Mitch "Fred" Askew
June 17, 2003
The ride was a little bit faster than last weeks by averaging about 22 mph. The two Toms, Big Ring Tommy and Tom Lilly, broke off and attacked early. The lead group managed to stay together for the whole ride and was about 10 strong. Everyone riding with us from last year has improved a lot. Everyone was riding their best last night, it seemed. Mitch Askew and Chris Jackson did several attacks to snap the rubber band but the pack managed to hold the line. A rider new to our ride, Paul, gave Mitch a run for his money for the KOM sprint. Mitch pulled it off winning the red climbers arm band. Eric Anderson lit it up around Danny's corner and at 41.5 mph won the green sprinters arm band. Going for the final/stage sprint Chris counted down and led Mitch out for the final sprint. Mitch's right leg was cramping and he had to remain seated. Chris led out at 37 mph and when he pulled off, Mitch had nothing to sprint with. Randal Hendrix, however, did have something to sprint with. Getting out of the saddle and from behind Mitch sprinted for the yellow arm band/ stage win at 40 mph. The arm bands will be given out to be defended next Tues. see you all next week for your injection.
