What the racers are saying about Lula Lake:
Josh Seldman, Winner in the Men's Solo Category, Team Krystal
Hey guys,
I just wanted to say thanks for an awesome event that I will definitely remember. I have already spread the word what an awesome course and place Lula Lake was hopefully even more people will get to experience it next year. I wanted to thank all you guys also for putting on such a well run and great event. I know it takes so much time and dedication to pull a race like that off. You really made it so much fun for the racers, and so rewarding. I had to take off right after the race, but would have enjoyed thanking you personally. So have a great rest of the year, and I hope to see you on some rides this winter as I will be up there riding with the Krystal boys often
Todd Mills, Eastern Mountain Bike
"Team Peggy, a really cool MTB chick team out of Chattanooga, TN pulled off an awesome event. From the free Powerade and neutral bike mechanical support to great tunes all day and a band starting at 6:30pm to great prizes and cash awards. And the entry fee was only $25 per person I don't know how they do it.....I have been to a lot of big races and they are fun in there own way but a small race like this is the best. Especially once the brew and wine started flowing after the race
was over. But once the word gets out I don’t think this race will be small for long."

Report
Mark P, Solo Competitor
"What a great event. Well run. Good crowd. Great atmosphere. 30
teams (16 male solo and one female solo). 5.9 mile loop with plenty
of climbing....I will definitely do it again next year, we should get a group together
to go. It's a great venue for a great cause (race proceeds support a
land trust which has been purchasing land every year to increase
the size of the trust)."

- Vanessa Ford conducted a
Women's Mountain Bike Clinic in Nashville on September 7th. Vanessa said:
Racing has eluded me this season but the bike clinic was a success. I had 25 people there...skill levels ranging from "never biked off road before" to sport class racers but mostly they were beginners. First we discussed maintenance and how to fix a broken chain and flat tire and they got hands-on experience. Next we hit the obstacle course I had set up which simulated many of the situations one might experience on the trail but in an open field where they could be easily supervised. Once they felt pretty comfortable with the basic techniques, we hit the trail. Everyone went at their own pace. They encouraged and supported each other through the course. It was very cool to see these women new to the sport trying and overcoming even the
toughest obstacles and all the while shouting their support to each other. It was great! After the ride while enjoying Poppy's Pizza with everyone, many of the participants told me how much they
enjoyed the clinic and hoped I would do another one soon. Another clinic they had gone to had not let them have hands-on experience with bike maintenance and they had never been to one that had included riding, door prizes, a goody bag and lunch! I felt really good about it and wish I could make a living just doing clinics like that. I will be doing one for Team Green (an outdoors club through a local radio station) later this fall or next Spring.
